Turn corners even more safely in a BusStore pre-owned bus.

To offer its customers pre-owned buses that are at the cutting edge of technology, BusStore is expanding its services on offer. Customers are able to retrofit a pre-owned bus or coach of their choice with Turning Assist. The offer applies to Mercedes-Benz and Setra buses and coaches.

Turning Assist supports the driver when turning on the right, by making them aware of other road users and warning of any danger of collision. This retrofit is available for 2010 models and later, and applies both to city buses and touring coaches. For vehicles older than 2010, a pre-check will have to be done to determine viability. The retrofit is carried out by the service brand OMNIplus.

A modern turning assistant for buses and coaches
The “Turning Assist Retrofit” offer from OMNIplus involves retrofitting with a radar-supported system. These systems have achieved the best results in terms of road safety in internal Daimler tests and on ADAC inspection. Both in test ground trials and in real-life road conditions, it has been demonstrated that radar systems offer the best possible assistance in situations of poor visibility – for example at night or in bad weather or fog.

Warning with acoustic and optical signals
The Turning Assist Retrofit can differentiate between moving and stationary objects, reducing false positives to a minimum. A high level of vehicle integration with a CAN bus (a FMS interface is required for this) is another advantage of the system, ensuring an optimal tachometer signal. If a potential danger arises in the blind spot of the bus, the driver is warned with acoustic and optical signals and can therefore react quickly.
