Bus aid to Ukraine
BusStore Prague provides coaches to support Ukraine.
In the Czech Republic, buses are urgently needed to transport Ukrainian refugees. BusStore Prague is supporting aid organisations by providing two Tourismo coaches.
The war in Ukraine is causing massive suffering and has forced many people to flee. In transporting refugees and providing urgently necessary humanitarian aid to Ukraine, flexibly deployable coaches are currently playing an important role. To support the voluntary aid workers of the Czech fire brigade in their efforts, BusStore Prague, in cooperation with Mercedes-Benz Trucks Česká republika, immediately responded by providing two coaches.
Buses allow for rapid aid.
With the two Mercedes-Benz Tourismo coaches, aid workers have been able to rapidly increase their vitally necessary transport capacity. This supports the evacuation of people who have had to leave their country because of the war and have sought refuge in the Czech Republic. The deployment of the vehicles is coordinated by the Czech fire brigade, with support from the Prague city administration. As soon as the war broke out, when it became clear that people would have to flee Ukraine in great numbers, BusStore Prague got into gear and immediately offered the aid organisations support in their humanitarian endeavours.

Already in the first days of March, employees at BusStore’s Prague site got to work preparing the two coaches for immediate humanitarian deployment. Led by Petr Capek, Sales Manager at BusStore Prague, and Georg Kendlbacher, Head of New and Used Vehicle Sales, the two vehicles were given “fire brigade” lettering and fitted with toll collection units. The Czech capital is the headquarters for the organisation transporting and distributing refugees from Ukraine. Georg Kendlbacher: “Given the dramatic situation, the need for bus capacity is enormous. At the aid centre for Ukrainian refugees in the Prague Congress Centre, 3,000 people are arriving daily – and the number is rising.”
The Czech fire brigade has taken on responsibility for coordinating aid. The vehicles from BusStore Prague collect refugees both from the Polish/Czech and Slovakian/Czech borders and directly from Ukraine, driving them straight to Prague. There, they can be relocated to other places in the Czech Republic. By mid-March more than 25,000 people had been helped in this way – some of them also with the support of the two Tourismo coaches provided by BusStore Prague. “We believe even a little help can achieve great things,” says Petr Capek.
